Santa Fe's Texas Chief daily passenger train between Chicago, Illinois and Galveston, Texas was inaugurated on April 3, 1948. The northbound train was number 16 while the southbound train was number 15. The Texas Chief replaced Santa Fe subsidiary Gulf, Colorado and Santa Fe's "Fast Fifteen" service between Newton, Kansas and Galveston. A variety of motive power and passenger cars from different builders could be found on the Texas Chief. Twenty-six year old E-6A no. 13 can be seen on the point of the Texas Chief at Fort Worth on this web page: http://swrails.com/2011/08/07/lucky-13/ Below are some videos I made of an assemblage of MTH Rail King models into a semi O scale version of the Texas Chief. Note "Lucky 13" is the lead E-6 locomotive in some of the videos and that Santa Fe northern no. 2927 is lashed up with the E-6 AA pair in other segments. Watching the videos directly on You Tube will provide you with the specific consist list of the Texas Chief in these videos as I listed the car names or numbers in the description for the videos on the You Tube site.
