My coal mine tipple design has features from photos in the book "Chesapeake & Ohio in the Coal Fields" by Thomas W. Dixion,Jr.

Even though my layout has a western theme, I like the appalachian coal industry so in my world it fits.

The mine is accessed by an elevator that lifts a cart of coal to the top of the tipple where it is dumped for sorting and loading.

The model has a frame that was made of 1/8 inch Masonite with walls of corrugated basswood that was covered with aluminum foil. The windows were made in Word, then printed on transparency.
