After years of planning, procrastination, etc., I am finally about to really get going on my layout. I will be posting additional photos as work progresses. I live in Alexandria, VA, right across the Potomac River from Washington, DC. A few years ago we had our house extensively remodeled including the gutting of the entire basement. The deal was that I would essentially say "yes dear" to just about everything my wife wanted done and I would get my train layout. Surprisingly, she didn't want it in the basement so I got to take over the now "former" sun room just off the living room. Below are two views of what is looks like right now. It is almost totally MTH with two lines of non-intersecting track on a 12x8 "L" shaped table. As you can see there are a bunch of buildings and there will be at least 23 working street lights as well as operating RR crossing signals with sound and working traffic lights. There will be a mountain/tunnel at one end topped with high tension towers. This also serves to keep the family cat from reclaiming what has been part of her domain until now. That end of the table was where she got up on the layout. The room itself has large windows almost all the way around it.
