After experiencing some frustration and much annoyance trying to remove the roof of a Polar Express observation car in order to change a light bulb, I devised the following method which simplified the task greatly and eliminated the necessity of using bad language. A P.E. coach was used for the illustrations. When doing the observation car you must remember to remove the three screws in the roof above the observation platform.

Step 1: Trim the ends of four 1/4" craft sticks square and sand them to a taper.

Step 2: Press in each tab and insert a craft stick.

Step 3: Lift the roof until the tabs clear the car sides and remove the craft sticks.

Step 4: The roof is now easily removed, you're in! Replace any burned out bulbs and reinstall the roof. Piece a cake!
